Shopping.
The Village Plaza at Alegria will be home to a variety of upscale boutiques and galleries; however, while construction is underway, there are plenty of options beyond the comforts of your own backyard.
Shopping villages outside Alegría:
Flamingo
The brand new La Plaza opened just in time to bring in the New Year of 2008 with a variety of boutiques and shops featuring high-end fashion, handbags, jewelry and home accents galore. With an open courtyard and relaxing water features, this new Flamingo attraction is the perfect place to relax and browse before dinner overlooking the ocean.
Guaitil
A small village located just outside Santa Cruz, the primary center of Costa Rican folklore. In this town, people make clay pots by hand, decorate them with the earth’s natural colors and fire them in giant wood-burning ovens, just as their ancestors, the Chorotega Indians, did – a group of Indians who ruled the land between Lake Nicaragua and the Nicoya Peninsula. Here, pottery is available in all kind of shapes, colors and sizes.
